Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." To be led by the Holy Spirit is a wonderful thing. It is the evidence that we are the sons of God. Every true child of God is waiting for the guidance of the Lord's Spirit. If we are to be led by the Spirit who comes to live within us at salvation, there is a wonderful prerequisite - the need to have the mind of Christ. The context of this verse is, "For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace" (Romans 8:6) In our allegorical study of Esther, we are seeing the vital role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. When we have received the Spirit into our lives at salvation, it is possible to resist Him or quench Him, and thus, our ability to be led by the Spirit is hindered. It has been said that many imagine that they are led of the Spirit, but are really strangers to the mind of Christ, who are yet carnal, contentious, resentful, proud, and self-assertive. Let's remember to walk in the light as He is in the light...to be dead to the self life (Haman) and alive to the one who lives in us, the Spirit! Yes, it is a very good thing to be led of the Spirit rather than depending on the wisdom of the world or the flesh!

Dear friends,

I wonder if you are like me – I get so tired of religion! To put a sharper point on it, and to be entirely honest, I know of nothing that is quite so boring as Christianity without Christ!

Many people…countless people, have stopped going to a place of worship simply because they are sick of going through the motions of a dead religion. Have you ever had the lights go out in the house only to find that when you were able to locate the flashlight in the dark and turned it on it did not act like a flashlight because the batteries had gone dead? If so, you have discovered that a flashlight without batteries will not act like a flashlight! In the same way, a car without gas will still be a car, but not act like a car!

May I ask you a question? Are you a Christian? You say, “Yes, I am! I can go back to the time and place when I received Christ into my life.” My response is, “That’s wonderful!” Now I have another question…“Are you being the Christian that you became on the day of your salvation?” Just like the flashlight or the car needing something to enable them to act like what they are, there is something needed for the Christian to be the Christian that they have become…and that something is Christ! I don’t mean thoughts about Him or principles that He taught…I mean Christ! He is alive in us if we are Christians and it is He and He alone that allows the Christian to be the Christian that they have become!

I would like to invite you to a new study that will begin this Sunday morning at CCF that will seek to examine what the Word has to say about such a Christian life…our study will be on the book of Esther.

Lord bless you, Pastor Bob

One of the most interesting subjects for the Christian and non-christian to study is that of Heaven! I am excited to be teaching on this subject at this time; I hope that you will join us as we seek to understand from God's word such subjects as, "Where is Heaven?" "What is Heaven like?" "What will we be doing in Heaven?" "Will we know each other in Heaven?" If you are like me, as a young Christian, I was taught that the more "heavenly minded you are the less earthly good that you are!" The Bible mentions Heaven more than 500 times and quite often it teaches the believer the importance of being knowledgeable of Heaven! Again, come join us and bring a friend as we study the Bible and see what the Lord wants us to know about Heaven!

Did you know that there are two kinds of faith that we can have and operate by? Listen to Psalm 106:11-13 "And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left. Then believed they his words; they sang his praise, They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel." "Then believed they His words." The question is: When did they believe His words? They believed His words only after they saw... This is shallow faith. This is a worldly faith, a faith that is hard to bless! It is faith that lacks any long lasting effects... note in v13 that it says that "they soon forgot His works". All the way from Goshen to the Red Sea, Israel did not believe. Her faith was based on the physical, and their physical senses saw an angry Egyptian army behind them and a large body of water in front of them. There was not one physical evidence to believe! Again, such faith is not faith at all, for "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Heb. 11:1) Moses's faith, however, did not come out of the physical. He also saw the Egyptian army and the waters, but his faith was locked onto the invisible God and onto his promise of protection in the midst of despair and hopelessness. Therefore, Moses could say, "Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will show to you today". (Exo. 14:13) The people's faith was earthly, and it took them to an untimely death. Moses's faith was heavenly, and it endured unto the end! May we each walk by the faith that is from above and not from this world.

Have you ever considered the true purpose of your life? There is only one of you and God made you for a purpose! This is a big question and it can't be fully answered in one setting, but I would like to share one verse of scripture with you: I Thess. 4:3a, "For this is the will of God, your sanctification..." Most believers will know that the word "sanctify" comes from the idea to set apart from one group and place in another, or to have one purpose and then have another purpose, etc. Simply put, the word "sanctification" refers to something that is being put to its correct use; it means the fulfillment of the purpose for which was originally intended! The purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ in being a man on earth (Acts 2:22) was for there to be a demonstration of God's divine activity in and through a man. The same is true of us as Christians - what the Lord Jesus was to the Father, we are to be to Jesus; we are, by faith (Gal 2:20), to allow Him to be manifested in us (II Cor. 4:7-12).What is the true purpose of our life? For the Christian, it is our sanctification!
